PURPOSE:To obtain a reproduced pattern with high picture quality by adopting the scanning system such that the scanning at the right half is shifted downward with respect to the left half scanning near the center of the screen so as to make the scanning system for encoding and decoding nearly coincident thereby reducing the geometrical distortion. CONSTITUTION:Said lines represent scanning lines of a 1st field 1 and scanning is applied sequentially in the direction of arrow from the upper side. Moreover, the scanning lines 6 for the right half are deviated downward by one scanning line in comparison with scanning lines 7 for the left half near the middle of the screen. Broken lines represent scanning lines of a 2nd field 2, the screen is scanned sequentially from the upper part in the direction of arrow and the scanning lines 8 for the right half are deviated by one scanning line downward in comparison with the scanning lines 9 for the left half. Since the scanning system above is adopted, the scanning system for encoding/decoding sides is made nearly coincident to reduce the geomatrical distortion.
