PURPOSE:To prevent a printing quality from decreasing by limiting a printing speed by utilizing a time until a temperature sensitive element is returned at the operation of the element as an opportunity to eliminate a heavy duty state, thereby reducing the heat generation amount of an electromagnet. CONSTITUTION:Since a temperature sensitive element 7 is not operated at this time when a printing operation is started at a time t0, the operation is conducted at the highest printing speed L1 (lines/min). Assume that the printing operation at the speed L1 is continued to raise the temperature of an electromagnet and the element 7 is operated at a time t1. A controller 8 receives a signal that the element 7 is operated to limit the speed to L2 (<L1). The controller 8 successively checks whether the element 7 is returned, and returns the speed to the L1 when it receives a return signal (time t2). When the element 7 is not returned even when a predetermined time t13(=t<->3t1) is elapsed from the time t1 when it is limited to the speed L2. the controller 8 further limits the speed to L3(<L2), and returns it to the speed L1 when it receives a return signal (time t4).
