Apparatus for the application of a preparation liquid

The necessary application of the preparation liquid to a thread is to take place to a sufficient thickness and, above all, uniformly at all points. This is not achieved by the state of the art, in which the application surface is moved together with the thread, since the latter touches the surface only over its thread width. The new application apparatus is to remedy this by expanding the contact surface. This is achieved in that the application surface bearing on the thread is moved transversely relative to the thread. The circumference or the end face of a body of revolution can serve as an application surface. In the first instance, the line of contact of the thread with the application surface forms an angle with the generatrix which is smaller than 90@. In the second instance, the line of contact with the end face of the body of revolution is a secant. The application surface can be interrupted once or several times transversely to the thread running direction. The new apparatus leads to a uniform and sufficient preparation application.
