PURPOSE:To obtain at low cost the title slurry which permits piping and has low viscosity so that facile handling is ensured, by performing wet pulverization and slurrying of pulverized coal pre-washed with water together with water and a surfactant using a ball mill etc. CONSTITUTION:Coal is immersed in water in wt. proportions of 1:1 for about a week, and washed with water, thereby removing a readily soluble ash content. A predetermined amt. of washed coal and water as a surfactant are fed into a ball mill etc., and wet pulverization is conducted so as to cause the coal to have a predetermined particle size distribution. Thus, there is obtd. the title slurry having a coal concn. of 60wt.% or more.
