PURPOSE:To attain communication via a branching device against a fault of a part of a cable by providing a 1st switch switching a feeder for plural cables and a 2nd switch switching the feeder of plural cables against grounding under sea and controlling the 1st and 2nd switches by remote control. CONSTITUTION:Even if a feeder 2 is opened and feeding from the feeder 2 is disabled, the communication between terminal stations A and C is ensured by connecting the feeders 1 and 3. As to three branches, the 1st switches S1-S3 are provided among the feeders 1-3 and the 2nd switches S4-S6 are provided between the feeders 1-3 and ground and any combined connection is realized by applying remote control to the switches. If it is not required to realize the combination due to physical position of each terminal station or the like practically, the switch for the required part is mounted and the mount of the undesired switch is omitted.
