PURPOSE:To improve the safety of the appliance by providing metal detecting means at a changing port and activating a sefety device by an output signal of detecting means, in a disposer which dries or burns kitchen refuse by a microwave. CONSTITUTION:When charging kitchen refuse through a charging port, if a metallic material is mixed in the kitchen refuses, an inductance L of a coil device 3 varies and the oscillation frequency of an oscillation circuit 21 varies. A frequency comparison circuit 24 compares its frequency with a reference frequency from a reference frequency source 25. When the difference between both frequencies exceeds a set value, an output device 26 activates an alarm device 4 to emit a voice alarm and lights a display lamp device 5. At the same time, the power source device 27 of a magnetron 13 is turned off. By this constitution, the safety of the appliance can improved.
