PURPOSE:To provide clear color reproducibility to an internal latent image type direct positive color photosensitive material and to stabilize the photographic performance during continuous processing with a reduced amt. of a replenisher by incorporating a specified development inhibitor releasing compd. into the photosensitive material. CONSTITUTION:This photosensitive material contains a practically nondiffusible compd. which produces or releases a dye by oxidation coupling with a color developing agent as a color image forming coupler and a development inhibitor releasing compd. represented by formula I [where A is a group which release (L1)v-B-(L2)w-DI by a reaction with the oxidized product of a developing agent, L1 is a group which releases B-(L2)w-DI after release from A, B is a group which releases (L2)w-DI by a reaction with the oxidized product, L2 is a group which releases DI after release from B, DI is a development inhibitor, v=0, or 1 and w=0 or 1]. DI in formula I is especially preferably a development inhibitor which is a compd. having development inhibiting property when released as DI and is decomposed or turned into a compd. exerting practically no influence on photographic performance after flowing into a color developing soln. When the photosensitive material is used, a direct positive color image having high max. density and low min. density can be rapidly and stably formed. |
