PURPOSE:To make it possible to usually set appropriate open/close timing by adjusting the valve clearance of a seated valve during a period in which one of intake/exhaust valves is lifted and the other is seated, with regard to cylinders at least on both ends a multi-cylinder engine. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of adjusting position marks 2 which indicate the valve clearance adjusting positions of intake/exhaust valves are attached on an outer circumferential edge of a crank pulley 1 fixed to a crank shaft, and also a timing indicator 3 is provided on the fixing member side of a timing belt cover, etc. And a top dead point mark 4, a bottom dead point mark 5 and a pulley mark 6 for ignition timing adjustment are provided on the crank pulley 1. And the crank shaft is rotated to show #3IN, #2EX on the indicator 3 side and also to get #1 cylinder positioned in the top dead point of compression, then, when the top dead point 4 meets the indicator 3, the valve clearance adjustment of the intake valve of #3 cylinder and that of the exhaust valve of #2 cylinder indicated by the mark 2 are carried out.
