PURPOSE:To efficiently damp the waves generated close to the water surface of a solar pond and provide a device which can be adapted to a large scale solar pond by forming a pipe structure which comprises many parallell arranged pipes whose tops are made open in inclination. CONSTITUTION:Waves generated in the center of a solar pond 1 advance horizontally near the water surface in progressive waves toward the surrounding side wall 2. The waves are intercepted by a wave damping pipe structure 17 to be broken up and trapped by inclined openings 13 of pipes 11. The progressive waves push down the water in the pipes 11 by their own energy, and part of the waves are vertically released from the bottom. That is, the energy of the waves in the horizontal direction is converted to the energy having a vertical vector by the pipes 11 and is damped. The wave energy damping effects by the pipe structure 17 and the trapping of the progressive wave energy by the inclined opening 13 are mutually multiplied to substantially enhance the wave damping efficiency. There is no inherent constraint in the size of a solar pond, and device can be effectively adapted to a large scale solar pond. |
