PURPOSE:To execute focusing on a main object by setting plural spots for range finding in a photographing screen and deciding the position of a photographing lens based on a range finding signal obtained first in a process where the range finding is sequentially executed from the center of the screen to a periphery. CONSTITUTION:A position signal obtained in a PSD 13 is processed in a range finding signal detection circuit 16, so that it is inputted in a microprocessor (MPU) 17 as the finalization range finding signal. By setting the plural spots for range finding in the photographing screen 24 and sequentially executing the range finding from the center A1 of the photographing screen 24 to the periphery ad for the plural spots for range finding, the set position of the photographing lens 2 is decided based on the range finding signal detected first in the process of range finding. Therefore the nearer to the center A1 of the photographing screen 24 the object exits, the more preferentially the range binding is executed to said object among the object distributed in the photographing screen 24. Thus, focusing can be executed to most of the main object 25. |
