OPTICAL RECORDING/REPRODUCING DEVICE

PURPOSE:To form the optimum recording/reproducing and erasing spots by using a single laser light source for laser array as a recording/reproducing beam light source with other laser light source groups as an erasing beam light source respectively and varying the outputs of these laser light sources. CONSTITUTION:The laser beams radiated from a recording/reproducing beam light source 11a for laser array 11 and the erasing beam light sources 11b-11d form a train of approximately circular spots on a disk 16 through a collimator lens 12 and via a polarized beam splitter PBS13, a 1/4 wavelength plate 14 and an objective lens 15. The reflected light of the train 22 travels back and is made incident on a photodetector 18 through the PBS13 and a condenser lens 17. Thus, the focusing/tracking control signals are obtained together with the information signals. An address circuit 19 reads the track information out of the information signals. Based on this track information, the outputs of the light sources 11b-11d are controlled via a laser drive circuit 20. Thus, the optimum erasion characteristics are obtained.
