<p>Resin is reaction prod. of (a) bisphenol epoxy resin and (b) an active hydrogen-containing compound, and in its final form contains no epoxy groups. (a) contains, as at least a part of its bisphenol component, an alkyl substd. bisphenol of formula (I), where R is CH2, CHCH3, C(CH3)2, (i) or (ii); R' is an alkyl gp. of 4 carbons or more; n=1 or 2. (b) is capable of reaction with the epoxy resin of (a). At least 20 mol.% of the bisphenol component should be made up of an alkyl-substd. bisphenol such as bis(hydroxynonyl)methane and bis(hydroxyoctyl)methane. The bisphenol epoxy resin (a) is represented by the formula (II); where X is H or CH3; Z is represented by the formula (III) or (IV); where R, R' and n are as in formula (I). m is an integer between 0 and 15. The active hydrogen-containing compound is a 2-20C alkanolamine (preferred 6-30C). Diethanol amine is specified. The reaction is carried out with weight(c)/weight(b)=1/0.95-1/1/05. The mean molecular number of the polyol resin lies between 500 and 6000. The paint compsn. is composed of the (A) the polyol resin (B) polyisocyanate or block polyisocyanate and (C) aromatic hydrocarbons.</p> |
