In a stack of heat-transfer plates 2, 3, which is designed for heat exchangers, in particular for rotating, regenerative air-preheaters, the plates have mutually parallel S-shaped double crests 21, 22; 31, 32, and the plates are arranged in such a manner in the stack that the double crests on one plate intersect the double crests on an adjacent plate and extend obliquely in mutually opposite directions in relation to the main flow directions 6 of the heat exchange media. The throttling effect usually experienced at double-crest intersections 24 is avoided by orienting the plates 2, 3 in such a manner that each pair of double crests which converges towards an intersection 24 provides a part 21 of the double crest on one plate 2, which projects into an intermediate duct, and likewise a part 32 of the double crest on the other plate 3, which projects away from the intermediate duct. <IMAGE>
