PURPOSE:To enable ink residue to be detected with a small detection device of high reliability, by a method wherein a plurality of ink residue detection means are formed in one body in one case. CONSTITUTION:This ink residue detection device is so constructed that pairs of electrodes of a plurality of pressure sensing chambers 32A-32D are each connected in series in a body 31, and a composite signal of detection signal of each detection means is taken out from output terminals at both ends to be transmitted to a control part. Therefore, when the ink residue becomes not more than a set value at any one of ink supply sources 7 and increase of negative pressure due to a small amount of ink occurs in any one of the pressure sensing chambers 32A-32D, the detection signal is transmitted to a control circuit via the output terminals 50, 50, and a small amount of ink residue can be reported.
