1. Circuit arrangement for the analog/digital conversion of signals of varying level. 2.1 In such a circuit, it is already known to apply the signals to the analog/digital converter via a dynamic compressor and to control the level in such a manner that the dynamic range of the analog/digital converter is utilised at approximately all levels. 2.2 At the beginning of an adaptation process, the occurrences when the dynamic range is exceeded are counted and controllable current sources are driven via a digital/analog converter which extend the step size of the quantisation steps of the flash converter. This is done until a stead-state condition is reached. A flash converter is preferably used as analog/digital converter. 2.3 The measure can be applied in digitised video devices which are intended to process signals from different signal sources and thus of different input level. |
