[Also in Division E1] A tubular aluminium alloy conduit 1 having an aperture 6 for an inspection door is internally reinforced adjacent the aperture by a lining 2 comprising a split tube of steel or alloy sprung within the tube 1. The lining 2 has its longitudinal split diametrically opposite an aperture corresponding to and overlying the aperture 6 and carries mounting blocks, Fig. 4 (not shown), welded to the edges of the split for supporting electrical equipment. A sole plate 3 is welded to the tube 1 and lining 2. In manufacture, the lining is contracted in diameter for insertion within the tube by means of tongs. |
