摘要

PURPOSE:To make distribution of ionic materials uniform and to prevent generation of unevenness of display contrast by incorporating a specified additive into nematic crystals in a field effect liquid crystal display device. CONSTITUTION:Uniform distribution of ionic materials in liquid crystals is attained by irradiating nematic liquid crystals 8 with ultraviolet rays after incorporating 0.01-0.1wt.% (basing on the amt. of the liquid crystals) quinone type compd. which is decomposed to the ionic materials by the irradiation with ultraviolet rays, into the nematic liquid crystals 8. By making the distribution of the ionic material uniform, generation of uneven display contrast due to ununiform distribution of ions caused by the presence of minute dusts is prevented, and sufficiently good display of uniform contrast is realized.
