PURPOSE:To make it possible to obtain clear images, by printing a one-line amount of data by one reciprocation of a recording electrode head. CONSTITUTION:A recording medium 2 is disposed between and in contact with a platen 1 and an ink ribbon 3. A recording electrode head 4 comprises two groups of recording electrodes 401-4012 respectively on both sides A, B of a tip part of an insulating substrate 4. The two electrode groups are equal in electrode pitch, but the positions of the electrodes in one of the groups are shifted by one-half period from the positions of the electrodes in the other group. The electrodes on one side of the head 4 are brought into contact with the ink ribbon 3, and are supplied with recording signals while the head 4 is moved. Recording signals to be supplied to the electrodes on the other side of the head 4 are stored in a line buffer memory, then the electrodes on the one side used for recording are separated from the ribbon 3, and the electrodes on the other side are brought into contact with the ribbon 3. The recording signals previously stored are supplied to the electrodes being now in contact with the ribbon 3 while moving the head in a direction opposite to the direction of the previous movement. Thus, a one-line amount of data is printed out through one reciprocation of the head 4. |
