PURPOSE:To prevent hunting in a downward travel due to the interruption of fuel supply by applying a low frequency dither to a control duty and control ling the opening of a throttle in such a way as to turn an idle switch ON and OFF on the cycle of the dither. CONSTITUTION:A constant speed control device of duty control type converts a difference of (VM-Y)between a saved car speed VM and a travel speed V into a duty D by the predetermined control gain G, and controls the generation power of an actuator 18 by a control duty D comprising a set duty SD added to said duty D. Throttle opening, therefore, comes to be in proportion to the control duty D. A dither of 2 Hz or so is applied to the control duty for adjusting the throttle opening and a throttle 4 is made to oscillate fractionally, thereby eliminating hunting.
