DRY DESULFURIZATION METHOD OF EXHAUST GAS OF SULFURIC ACID PRODUCING INSTALLATION

PURPOSE:To perform effective desulfurization by feeding exhaust gas to a removing tower of SO3 and then adding water thereto and treating the mixture in a removing tower of SO2 and on the other hand, regenerating activated carbon in a regeneration tower and thereafter feeding it to the removing tower of SO2 to absorb water and circulating it to the removing tower of SO3 and the regeneration tower. CONSTITUTION:Exhaust gas contg. SOx discharged from a sulfuric acid producing installation 1 is fed to a removing tower 4 of SO3 and SO3 is adsorbed and removed with a moving bed of activated carbon. Then steam or water is added to the exhaust gas at 0.5-3.0vol.% therefor and introduced into a removing tower 5 of SO2 to adsorb and remove SO2. On the other hand, activated carbon is fed to the removing tower 4 of SO3 from the removing tower 5 of SO2 and furthermore fed to a regeneration tower 7 and regenerated by carrier gas and desorbed gas enriched with SO2 is fed to the sulfuric acid producing installation 1 and utilized as a raw material and regenerated activated carbon is circulated to the removing tower 5 of SO2.
