PURPOSE:To automate a test of concrete setting by inserting an insertion stylus with which a pressure sensor is coupled into a sample to constant depth, extracting it after pressure is detected, and moving the insertion position and repeating said operation. CONSTITUTION:The sample 1 of concrete is set in a container 2a by specific mixture design. The insertion stylus 30 with which the pressure sensor 33 is coupled is driven by a stylus elevation mechanism 35 with a signal from a control means 50 to insert the stylus into the surface of the sample 1 to the constant depth, and then extracted after the current pressure is detected by the pressure sensor 33. Then a container table 3 is rotated by a rotary mechanism 10 to move the insertion position and said cycle is repeated. At this time, the insertion time and pressure of the stylus are stored in a control means 50 and then the setting test result is obtained automatically; even when there are plural samples, the operation is performed similarly and the setting test is automated.
