PURPOSE:To improve the quality of a continuously cast slab by arranging a center part electromagnetic coil at each backup plate in a mold frame and one pair of end part electromagnetic coils inserting the above coil and making setting position of each electromagnetic coil movable. CONSTITUTION:One pair of the center part electromagnetic coil 5 are arranged by fitting the backup plates 2 in the mold frame 1 through bolts 5a and also each one pair of the end part electromagnetic coils 6 are arranged to the backup plates 2 through the bolts 6a as inserting the coil 5. Further, one pair of yokes 9 connecting as bringing into contact with cores 5b, 6b of the coils 5, 6 are arranged and the coils 5, 6 are made to swingably as centering the core 5b, and position of swinging end can be changed by long-wide hole 9a in the yoke 9. By this method, as the electromagnetic coils 5, 6 can be positioned most effectively in accordance with the casting condition, the effect of electromagnetic brake is fully utilized. Therefore, the quantity of the continuously cast slab is improved.
