PURPOSE:To quickly attain the pull-in of an irradiating light onto the track of an optical disk by suppressing forcibly the moving of the irradiating light by the action of a pull-in control means when the irradiating light is moved on the optical disk and a usual tracking control cannot be executed. CONSTITUTION:At a tracking control circuit 14, a direction detecting means to detect a reflecting light quantity from an optical disk light-received by a light projecting and receiving head 8 and the moving direction of a light irradiated from an error signal to an optical disk and a moving speed detecting means to detect the moving speed of the light to the track of the optical disk based on the error signal are provided. A pull-in control means to stop the action of a tracking control means when the detected moving means is the prescribed value or below and drive an actuator 20 in the direction opposite to the moving direction detected by the direction detecting means in accordance with the moving speed is equipped. Thus, even when the tracking control during the moving of the irradiating light is started, the irradiating light can be pulled in quickly onto the track of the optical disk.
