The acoustic signal formed at the tap point (3) is transmitted through the pipe (1) to a receiver incorporated in a cut-off valve (4) at the fluid source (2). In the receiver, the signal is compared with one from the fluid source meter (9). If the signal from the source meter (9) indicates a greater flow than that at the tap point (3), the cut-off valve is closed. |
