PURPOSE:To enhance resistance to solvents, light, weathering, rubbing and heat and prevent fading or re-sublimation of a sublimable dye through preventing a recorded image and the outside air from making contact with each other, by converting a permeable layer into a film by a heat treatment after thermal transfer recording. CONSTITUTION:The title sheet comprises a base 1, a fixing layer 2 provided on the base and comprising a resin suitable for easy fixation of a heat-sublimable coloring material, and a permeable layer 3 provided on the fixing layer and comprising a resin which permits the coloring matter in a gaseous state to easily permeate therethrough and can be converted into a film by a heating/pressing treatment. At the time of thermal transfer recording, the permeable layer 3 functions to permit the entire portion or a portion of the coloring matter in a gaseous state to permeate therethrough, thereby transferring the coloring matter to the fixing layer 2. After the thermal transfer recording, the permeable layer 3 is converted into a film by being heated or pressed. The film layer 4 thus obtained protects the fixing layer 2 and a recorded image 5 from external factors such as solvents and light, and prevents the coloring matter constituting the image 5 from fading due to re-sublimation. A thermoplastic high molecular weight compound used for the permeable layer 3 is preferably a polyolefin. |
