PURPOSE:To permit extremely easy removal of a core when the core is cooled after production by arranging the innermost layer of an assemblage of reinforcing fibers in such a manner that the direction of the reinforcing fibers is in the peripheral direction of the core. CONSTITUTION:The assemblage 2 of the reinforcing fibers is disposed around the round bar-shaped core 1 in a metallic mold 3. The innermost layer 4 of the assemblage 2 is so arranged that the reinforced fibers are directed in the circumferential direction of the core. The reinforcing fiber layer 5 is arranged on the outside of the layer 4 according to applications, etc. A melt 6 of a metal to serve as a matrix is then poured into the mold 3 and is pressurized by a plunger 7 by which the molten metal is impregnated into the assemblage 2 and is solidified. The mold 3 and a base 8 are separated, upon solidification of the molten metal 6, and an FRM is taken out together with the core 1 from the mold 3. The core 3 is then removed. A difference in the coefft. of thermal expansion between the core 1 and the FRM in the radial direction is increased and the removal of the core 1 is facilitated.
