PURPOSE:To improve sensitivity by storing a video signal for one pattern read from a solid-state image pickup element and reading out the stored video signal repetitively till the video signal of the next one pattern so as to eliminate flicker thereby prolonging the storage time. CONSTITUTION:A readout pulse is outputted for each 4-field from a readout pulse generator 2 in synchronism with an output from a control circuit 8, a video signal of one field is outputted at four-field each and stored in a storage circuit 6 and the video signal stored is read out repetitively during the next 3-field period. A changeover switch 3 is turned to the position of a terminal (a) during one-field period when the video signal from the image pickup element 1 exists and turned to the position of a terminal (b) during the next 3-field period, and a continuous video signal is obtained at an output terminal 4, in which one and same video signals are repeated for 4-field. Thus, the stored time of a photodiode of the solid-state image pickup element is extended and the sensitivity is improved.
