PURPOSE:To improve the quality of a product and to reduce the production cost by circulately setting a metallic belt between a cooling drum and rolls separately arranged, winding up molten metal on the metallic belt through rotation of the cooling drum and solidifying by rapidly cooling. CONSTITUTION:The rolls 9, 10 having the prescribed interval from the cooling drum 1 are arranged and the metallic belt 11 made of heat resistant steel or copper alloy, having the same width, is arranged as circulately setting between the drum 1 and the rolls 9, 10. The prescribed tension is given to the belt 11 through a tension mechanism 12 and as necessity requires, a temp. control mechanism 14 and oxide film removing mechanism 15 in the belt 11 are arranged. At the time of rotating the drum 1, the belt 11 is endlessly shifted and the molten metal 4 is stuck at the prescribed thickness and rapidly cooled and solidified by the drum 1, to form a strip 5. As formation of oxide film on the drum 1 and the belt 11 are eliminated, the quality of the strip 5 is improved, and as exchange caused by wear will suffice only with exchange the belt 11, the unit production cost is reduced.
