PURPOSE:To obtain a noncrystalline polyether ketone capable of being cast into a film and excellent in mechanical, electrical and optical durabilities, comprising a specified structure in which phenylene groups are bonded through thioether, ether and ketone groups. CONSTITUTION:A halohydrocarbon-soluble polyether ketone of an intrinsic viscosity >=0.3, composed of at least one of a recurring unit (A1) of formula I and a recurring unit (A2) (A) of formula II and a recurring unit (B1) of formula III and a recurring unit (B2) (B) of formula IV, having a structure in which recurring units belonging to (A) and those belonging to (B) are alternately bonded and having a ratio of the recurring units (B1) to the recurring units (B2) in the range of 20:80-80:20 by mol. In the formulas, R<1>, R<2>, R<3> and R<4> are each H or an alkyl and Y is a group of formula V (wherein R<5> and R<6> are each H or a hydrocarbon group) or the like.
