PURPOSE:To simplify the initial program load processing, by loading an initial program from an input/output device after this device is set to the processing acceptable state at the time of requesting the execution of initial program load. CONSTITUTION:When a control command of initial program load execution request is given from a command input device 7 to a central processing unit 3, it is discriminated by the central processing unit 3 whether an input/output device 6 is in the processing acceptable state or not. If it is in the processing acceptable state, initial program load from the input/output device 6 to a main storage device 2 is executed, and a program and data stored in the input/output device 6 are stored in the main storage device 2. If the device 6 is in the processing unacceptable state, the central processing unit 3 waits for the input/ output device 6 to enter into the processing acceptable state; and when it enters into the processing acceptable state, this state is recognized by the interrupt processing and initial program load from the input/output device 6 to the main storage device 2 is executed.
