Device for keeping the surface of a flag, of an ensign, of a standard, etc. or the like unfurled without the influence of the wind and for promoting its natural orientation under the action of the wind while avoiding the material wrapping around the mast or staff or the like at the peak of which the flag is hoisted. It consists of a frame composed of a vertical shaft 1, of two parallel profiled rods 2-3 fixed to the shaft 1 to form with it a maximum angle of 90 DEG and which, slid into the slideways 23-24 with which the longitudinal edges of the flag are provided, keep the surface of the flag unfurled. Laces 10 fixed to the vertical edge of the flag serve for attaching the latter to the shaft 1. This frame is suspended from the snap hook fixed at the upper end of the halyard by the ring 13 with which its extremity is provided. The halyard, carried by the pulley 9, falls straight down within the mast by virtue of the pulley 8 fixed at the top part and internal to the cap 6-7 covering the peak of the mast and mounted so as to pivot freely around the upper part of the mast, and has no return to the outside. With the flag hoisted it is fixed to the base of the mast at a hook fixed on the inner wall of the mast. The sliding ring 12 keeps the shaft 1 vertical under all circumstances with the aid of the pulley 9. The device according to the invention is particularly intended to keep the surface of a flag or the like unfurled and to promote its natural orientation. <IMAGE>
