PURPOSE:To control the heating of a food at a most suitable temperature and automate the cooking by supplying steam to a cooking area and detecting and controlling its temperature and at the same time of detecting the temperature of a food through the variation in the electric power consumption. CONSTITUTION:The temperature of a mixed gas 19 in a cooking area 2 rises together with the increase in the volume ratio of the saturated steam by supplied steam 17 and the steam heats a food 12, raising also the temperature in the center of the food 12. When a temperature sensor 401 reaches a set temperature T1=90 deg.C, the supply of steam 17 by steam supply means 3 is stopped. When the temperature of the mixed gas 19 falls, a steam heater 301 is turned ON and it supplies the steam 17. Hereafter these actions are repeated to control the temperature of the cooking area 2 inbetween the temperature T1 and the temperature T2 and the temperature of the food 12 rises and the variation in the consumption of the steam becomes the variation in the steam volume which is consumed for the food 12. By the rise in the temperature of the food 12, the amount of the consumed steam is reduced, and the average rate of electric current flow is reduced and at the same time the volume of the supply steam decreases.
