Fabric based on fibres, resistant to fire and comprising a mixture of: a) approximately 50-90 % by weight of "fireproof" textured fibres; b) approximately 10-50 % by weight of technical fibres which have a rigidity higher than that of textured glass, provided that, if the fibres a are textured glass fibres, the fibres b are other than carbon fibres. The preferred textured fibres are glass fibres. The fibres b may be carbon, aramid or silicon carbide fibres. The fabrics can be used for the manufacture of composite articles impregnated with phenolic resin and resistant to fire.
