PURPOSE:To obtain a coated roll having excellent heat resistance, heat insulating property, adhesiveness and strength for conveying a high-temp. steel sheet by providing a mixed coating layer composed of ceramics and nickel-base alloy or cobalt-base self-fluxing alloy on the surface of a roll base material. CONSTITUTION:The mixed coating layer composed of the ceramics such as ZrO2 and the nickel-base alloy or cobalt-base self-fluxing alloy is formed on the surface of the roll base material. A thermally sprayed underlying layer is preferably formed of the nickel-base alloy or the cobalt-base self-fluxing alloy to about 0.05-2mm layer thickness on the base material in this case. The mixed coating layer mentioned above is preferably formed by thermal spraying to about 2-20mm, more preferably 5-10mm layer thickness. The ceramics ratio of the mixed coating layer is adequately about 50-80% ratio. The thermally sprayed coating layers are preferably subjected further to a heat treatment, after formation thereof, to increase the adhesive strength of the film and to improve the reliability against exfoliation. The coated roll which can suppress the temp. drop of the high-temp. steel sheet during the conveyance thereof without having the possibility of damaging the steel sheet is thereby obtd. |
