PURPOSE:To generate a pattern containing a geometric graphic form with high efficiency by using a dot system and a graphic form system in combination for font pattern generation and then switching both systems alternately. CONSTITUTION:For example, when the dot system becomes effective, a dot indication input command 1 is inputted to a dot decision part 2, a dot judgement part 2 judges that an indicated dot is effective, and a corresponding bit in pattern data at a data generation part 3 changes. Further, when a graphic form system is selected, on the other hand, a graphic form indication input command 7 is supplied to a graphic form selection part 8 and then a parameter setting part 9 generates a parameter required for the selected graphic form with a parameter input command 10 inputted by an operator. Thus, when all pieces of information required to draw the graphic form are made ready and then pattern data changes at the data generation part 3, so that the pattern data is displayed on a display part 4 by both the dot system and graphic form system.
