The appts. consists of a suction tube for picking up components and a gripping device for aligning and centring the component comprising two pairs of oppositely arranged jaws. A holder in which the suction tube is axially movable with the holder and the gripping device consists of a device for opening and closing the jaws in response to movement of the tube w.r.t. the holder. The device ineludes a support in which the jaws are pivotally mounted and which is movable axially w.r.t. the holder. There is an abutment on the tube and a device engageable by the abutment for moving the support in response to tube movement.
