PURPOSE:To find a real distance on a drawing speedily and accurately by generating and displaying a scale in parallel or at right angles to a specified segment on a display screen. CONSTITUTION:The reduced scale rate on the display screen is calculated from the enlargement/reduction rate between a drawing display area and the display screen on a display device, the scale is generated and displayed in parallel or at right angles to the specified segment on the drawing, and scale gradations corresponding to the calculated reduction scale rate are provided. Thus, the scale is generated and displayed in parallel or at right angles to the specified segment on the drawing and the length of the specified segment is calculated speedily. Consequently, a real distance scale and a drawing size scale are confirmed corresponding to the specified segment, so the scale need not be calculated manually from the reduction scale rate and neither miscalculation nor a scale error is caused.
