PURPOSE:To prevent the waste of supplied dry steam and enhance efficiency and improve the performance of a soot blower by measuring the temperature and pressure in a steam supply pipe and detecting the wetness of the steam from measured values of temperature and pressure to operate the drainage work for steam supply pipings. CONSTITUTION:Each of soot blow devices 5a, 5b,...5n is connected to each of steam supply pipes 11, 12 which consist of a steam supply main pipe 11 which has a steam supply valve 1 and drain discharge valve 2 and a plurality of branch pipes 12 which have valves 3a, 3b,...3n connected to the steam supply piping 11, and, further, a thermometer 7 and pressure gauge 8 are connected to the steam supply main pipe 11 to measure the temperature and pressure in the steam supply pipings 11 and 12 before a series of soot blower operation II. From both measurements the wetness of the steam is detected. The drainage operation is conducted only when there are wet steam and retained moisture.
