PURPOSE:To reduce the load on an operator at the time of a format change by selecting and reading a format to be changed into a standard format and the standard format consisting of the same kind of format out of a standard format storage means and rewriting the setting of the format to be changed into the setting of the standard format of the same kind. CONSTITUTION:When the restoration of the standard format is instructed through an input means 1, a standard format restoring means 6 reads format data being corrected and the standard format of the same kind out of the standard format storage means 3 if format correction is in process or before the format is registered. Then, a format changing means 5 rewrites the format data being corrected into the standard data and a display means 4 displays the rewritten format data. Then storage is indicated through the input means 1, the rewritten format data is stored in a document storage means 2. Thus, the standard format is restored through the easy operation of the input means 1.
