The invention relates to peptides having common immunological properties with those of the peptide skeleton of the peptides of the HIV-2 class of viruses, especially the envelope glycoprotein of HIV-2, characterised in that they also have a common peptide structure with the peptide skeleton of the peptides of SIV, especially the envelope glycoprotein of SIV. The invention relates to diagnostic compositions capable of detecting an infection caused by HIV-2 and to vaccine compositions.
