PURPOSE:To prevent the contamination and wrinkling of recording paper, by providing a control means for moving a printing head to the central part of the recording paper by the output generated from a timer when no printing is performed for a definite time or more. CONSTITUTION:When a data is inputted, data processing such as the taking-in of printing data is performed and, when a printing order arrives, printing is performed. A timer T is reset by this printing and the timing of a printing stop time is started. When printing is stopped for a definite time or more, the timer T is cut off and it is judged whether a printing head is present at the central part of recording paper and, when the printing head is not present at the central part of the recording paper, an HC motor is driven to move the printing head to the central part of the recording paper. As a result, since the central part of the recording paper is pushed by the printing head in spite of long standby, time the levitation quantities at the left and right ends of the recording paper are reduced and the recording paper is prevented from contacting the ink ribbon. Therefore, the contamination of the recording paper can be prevented and, at the start time of the next printing, the wrinkling of the recording paper is also prevented. |
