PURPOSE:To obtain a melanin inhibitor, containing N-(p-hydroxycinnamoyl) glycine as an active ingredient, having excellent melanin inhibitory action and good compatibility with other ingredients without exhibiting skin irritation or allergy. CONSTITUTION:A safe melanin inhibitor, containing 0.01-50wt.%, preferably 1-20wt.%, especially 5-10wt.% N-(p-hydroxycinnamoyl)glycine expressed by formula I as an active ingredient and capable of treating and improving liver spot, ephelis or pigmented part after sunburn on the skin surface by locally applying to the above-mentioned parts and returning the parts to normal skin color. Furthermore, the aforementioned compound can be readily produced from a compound expressed by formula II through a compound expressed by formula III. |
