摘要 A magneto-optic sensor is specified. The said sensor has a ferro-magnetic amorphous layer (9), showing the optical Kerr effect and belonging to a sensor tip (13), an HeNe laser as light source (10) and a light detector (11). In this arrangement, a polariser (5) and an analyser (6) are used to measure the intensity of the Kerr component from the reflective part of a linearly polarised light beam irradiated onto the ferromagnetic layer (9). The Kerr component is proportional to a certain direction of magnetisation of the ferromagnetic layer (9). By suitable choice of the ferromagnetic layer (9), the sensor can be used as a magnetic field sensor (1), but also as a force sensor. The advantage of these sensors is that, by using an HeNe laser as the light source (10), the light source (10) and the light detector (11) can be separately arranged spatially far away from the sensor tip (13). <IMAGE>
