PURPOSE:To selectively convert methanol into synthesis gas without causing side reaction, such as hydrogenation of isobutylene, by reacting a mixture of the isobutylene with methanol using a copper based catalyst under given temperature condition. CONSTITUTION:Isobutylene is mixed with methanol or, e.g. methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE), is decomposed to directly afford the mixture of the isobutylene with methanol. This mixture is then brought into contact with a copper based catalyst at 200-400 deg.C temperature to provide the aimed mixture of the isobutylene with synthesis gas. |
