A soil spreader having a tapered hopper (10) closed at its bottom by a distribution drum (11) which is rotated in direction ''B'' to carry soil contained in the hopper (10) through a metering gate (13). A brush (15) is rotated in the opposite direction to the drum (11) to throw the soil from the drum onto the ground. Within the hopper, an auger (40) having opposing helices (41, 42) is used to agitate the soil over the drum, preventing excessive compaction, while also evening out the distribution of soil in the hopper. |
