PURPOSE:To reduce temperature of a producer wall and suppress the amount of generated carbon, by annularly providing blowing nozzles between a combustion burner of a reducing gas producer and the inner surface of the producer wall and enabling a cooled recycle gas to blow therefrom. CONSTITUTION:Blowing nozzles 16 are provided between a combustion burner 15 of a gas producer 1 and the inner surface 9 of the producer wall. A hydrocarbon based fuel is incompletely burned in the above-mentioned gas producer 1 to provide a mixed gas containing hydrogen and carbon monoxide. A recycle gas obtained by partially cooling the mixed gas is fed through a recycle gas passage 24 into the aforementioned blowing nozzles 16. A cooling layer is formed between a combustion flame and the inner surface 9 of the producer wall to reduce the temperature of the inner surface 9 of the producer wall.
