PURPOSE:To accurately shift a color ink ribbon, by arranging a lift cam on a carriage in one direction in a rotatable manner and providing the switching- over levers thereof to the carriage on both sides thereof in a freely slidable manner so as to protrude therefrom and providing a stopper for revolving the lift cam. CONSTITUTION:When a carriage 1 moves to the right so as to exceed a usual printing region, a right-hand change-over lever 6b is brought into contact with a stopper 15b to further move to the right and subsequently moves in the left direction against the spring force of a spring 8b. At this time, a lift cam 3 is slid and guided by the pin 7b on the carriage 1, the slot 6b' and in 6b'' of the change-over lever 6b and the cam 20b of the carriage 1 to be rotated by 1/4. Next, when the carriage 1 moves in the left direction and the change-over lever 6b is spaced apart from a stopper 15b, the change-over lever 6b returns to the original state by the action of the spring 8b. At this time, the leading end thereof gets over a pawl 5b and the pin 6b'' moves downwardly along the cam 20b and limited in sliding by the pin 7b and the slit 6b' to return to the original position. Therefore, a color ink ribbon can be accurately shifted.
