PURPOSE:To enable uniform bending molding and reduction in optical strain of glass in a device wherein plate glass softened by heating is transported in a horizontal state and subjected to bending molding, by setting a transportation mechanism having side plates capable of moving and extending instead of transfer rolls. CONSTITUTION:A traveling belt 104 is moved left along a rail 101 while plate glass G heated approximately to the softening point by a furnace 2 is being transported on transfer rolls 7. When the tip part of the plate glass G is brought into contact with a stopper of a front plate 109, the front plate 109 and side plates 111 together with the belt 104 are moved right, the under surface at the front end of the plate glass G is supported on the front plate 109, the under surface at the rear end on the left and right side plates 111 and the plate glass is transported between a top and a bottom molds 6 and 4. Then when the belt 104 is further traveled and the plate glass G is transported together with the plates 109 and 111, the tip part of the plate glass G is brought into contact with a stopper 130, only the plates 109 and 111 are moved right and the plate 109 comes off the under surface at the rear end of the plate glass G. Then the plates 111 are transferred outward, come off both the side parts of the plate glass G, the plate glass G is supported at the circumferential part by a ring mold 5 and press molded by the top and the bottom molds 6 and 4.
