PURPOSE:To attain display of information requiring complicated processing or large capacity sotrage area by connecting an external processing unit to an exchange and allowing an exchange to sent the external information formed by an external processing unit from the exchange. CONSTITUTION:The exchange 1 storing multi-function telephone set 2 provided at least with two display areas 23, 24 connects an external processing unit 4, which transmits/receives call processing information to/from the exchange 1, and the information relating to the call is generated as external information and the exchange 1 extracts the external information and sends it to a call control information path 3 with the information kind discriminated from the call control information and the external information is identified by the information type from the inputted from the line 3 to be displayed on a prescribed external information display area 24. Thus, the information required for the complicated processing other than the exchange control is displayed by characters on the display panel of the telephone set.
