PURPOSE:To extremely easily adjust white balance even when the color temperature varies by correcting the white balance of color difference signals of respective scanning lines electrically by using a part of the signals outputted from one and the same scanning line. CONSTITUTION:First light-sensitive elements sensitive to first colored light and second light-sensitive elements sensitive to second colored lit are sequentially arrayed along a horizontal line to produce a first light-sensitive element array and third light-sensitive elements sensitive to third colored light and fourth light-sensitive elements sensitive to fourth colored light or the second light-sensitive elements are also sequentially arrayed along the horizontal line to produce a second light-sensitive element array, said two element arrays are alternately disposed in the perpendicular direction, and thus an image-pickup element 5 is formed. By scanning this image-pickup element 5, two different kinds of signals are obtained. These two kinds of signals are made into color difference signals of well attained white balance by means of an adjusting means 21 and first color difference signal output means 16, 17 or second color difference signal output means 16, 18. Outputs from the first color difference signal output means are subjected to a delay means 11 and made synchronized with signals from the second color difference signal means, and thus color signals are obtained.
